Your photos are magnificent, especially that last one. I'm a "sky person" too, my archives are full of clouds and drama. I think the thing about sky is that sense of space you get from it, of endless possibilities but also, it changes so frequently, it's like a movie.

Thank you, Debs!. I agree. It's better than a movie. I've had to move my desk away from its original position right under the studio window because I get so distracted. I can lose hours staring at the sky.

Me too Debs but you probably guessed that already! 😊x

Your photos are sublimely beautiful Miranda, every one, And, if you call this a non post then really, what does that make mine! 😂

My husband would tell you I have spent half my life with my head in the clouds probably my dear Papa would agree if he were still here and to a degree they would both be right too. However, not always for he reasons they might give… like Debs, I have whole files filled with sky and cloud photos, I tell my students all the time, ‘don’t forget to look up because the sky is filled with inspirational light and dark and just sometimes answers too. They youngest love these lessons, the teenagers just think I’m bonkers!

So yes, I’m a sky person too, and a cloud person, a mist and fog person and if the sun is out, then that also!

I’m so glad to hear your course is going well, I had no doubts! Love and light sweet soul xxx

I suppose it did turn into a proper post after all. I honestly didn't think I had anything to say, Susie. Then the clouds took over and I kinda sorta found I did. This is probably the most rapidly completed Substack post I've posted. But I didn't *agonise* over it. Does it even count?

This is absolutely magical writing, I love it and so much resonates as someone who grew up and still lives in London yet craves the expansiveness of seeing the horizon. The image of "I couldn't get enough of it" struck me so strongly

No, your not the only one. I look for the sunset everyday, appreciate it, and am thankful I've had the privilege of being here on this earth another day.

What a glorious way to end each day. We're having to look hard for sunsets recently. It's been almost unendingly damp and grey, because, February. But it makes moments like these even more special.

In accounting, we call that breathing room between big projects "churn time"

Expand full comment

I've never heard that phrase before. Very descriptive. I like it. I can picture a brain in that in-between stage churning over the remnants of one project while beginning to pick up momentum on the next. Thanks, Lorraine. I'll mull/churn that image over.

Yes it always helped me to look at it that way. Love the photos of the sky, I'm a big cloud photography person too!

I'm always happy to meet a fellow cloud enthusiast, Lorraine!

Oh my goodness Miranda, these skyscapes are almost surreal!! Love them so much and your beautiful writing. I wanted to be a student of yours but had to prioritise an ongoing project that I really need to get finished before I jump into my next thing 💛💛💛 I am envious of them exploring their memories with your guidance xx

There's always next time, Emily! I'd absolutely love to have you join me when you're ready.

I'm feeling the urge to do some sky chasing. Yesterday's extraordinary skyscape was a very brief interlude at the end of a very dull, very wet day. I have to grab those moments when I can. As we're coming into spring I can feel the urge to chase more of these moments getting stronger.

I love the sky too. My favorite views were when we were out in western U.S. on our road trip honeymoon, and I finally understood what was meant by Big Sky Country. The land is so flat that the sky takes up nearly all of the view. It was breathtaking.

Is that last pic one you took? It is stunning.

I’m heading outside soon for my sensory walk! I’m quite behind, but I’ll get there. I don’t want to race through. I loved hearing your lovely voice this morning walking me through how the walk should go 💛

Yes, they're all my pictures. All from our little stretch of coastline. I know what you mean by "Big Sky Country". We don't have the landscapes to rival those US spaces, but I think the flatness of the sea is a near equivalent. I think this is why I seem to default to portrait format a lot of the time, despite being trained to default to landscape orientation. I'm trying to fit in as much of the height of the sky as I can. 🤣

Enjoy your sensory walk, my lovey! I'm so pleased you're enjoying the audio. I struggle to listen to them myself. I haven't quite got my head around listening to my own voice, but it gets easier each time I do it.

I'm about to record the audio for the Week 3 release tomorrow morning. I've been putting it off because it's been raining almost constantly and I can't block the sound. But it's still raining, so the audio will just be a bit damp. It's a meditation, so maybe it'll just add to the atmosphere.

Wow - for some reason, I thought many of these were professional stock photos or even AI. I’m blown away by their beauty! You live in a magnificent place.

I have been enjoying a few hours of catch up on TMM. Just got done opening random containers in my bathroom and sniffing them 😂.

So far, I’m really enjoying these feelings that have emerged. But I also love how organized the course is. How you’ve perfectly guided us in setting up our journals. I get easily frustrated by an out-of-order journal. I have one where I keep therapy and recovery notes, and it’s such a hodge podge. I have such trouble putting my hands on a particular page when I need it.

Aaaah, that's the best testimonial ever! For the photos and TMM.

Contents pages are the answer to everything. One day, I'd like to design and create a hard copy memory journal that I can give to Memory Miners. If you have any thoughts on how to improve the structure and layout, let me know.

So far the only thing I saw was a small typo! I sent a feedback email so you’d know where to find it. Other than that, I’m truly loving everything else.

Got it! Thank you. I'll hunt down that typo and put it out of its misery this afternoon. xx

And p.s. no one likes the sound of their own voice, right? But yours is like a soothing balm to me. The British accent helps ☺️

Ha! That's hysterical. But you're right. I don't know anyone who actually likes the sound of their own voice. xx

Well I’d say this WAS A Proper Article AND with the Magic of The Sky - what breathtaking photos! Ahhh Miranda… I just adore your sensitive soul soooo very, very much. ❣️🪄 (I’m enjoying a big old catch up with all of my favourite SS writers! 🤓)

Adore all these photos and yes the sky! It can be awe inspiring, peaceful, and I used to take an inordinate amount of pictures of clouds - which reminds me of the old insta hashtag #cloudporn. There is so much beauty, change and majesty in the skies. It can be expansive for ideas and the mind in general but its also humbling.

beautiful photos!

And yes, I do sometimes miss the sky, though I am more water oriented. When I walk the beach, I look to see which way the wind is blowing the waves. Are there whitecaps? Is the tide going out or coming in? Who is on the water? sailboats? wigeons? seagulls? container ships? kayaks? Is there a seal peeking up at me?

Definitely a cloud person here - I've preferred looking up since my childhood. I have files full of sunsets on my pc!
