Dancing at a school dance with my first boyfriend when we were first getting to know each other. the refrain "I've got a feelin' I'm in for somethin' good" followed us around the dance floor. Don't ask me who it was by, or the name of the song--I just remember hearing those words and thinking it was an omen. I loved the song.

I’m very happy you did too, Claire. I’m honestly not sure how common a practice it is, but I’m very much hoping to spread the memory journaling joy. I launch my first course on the subject this week. If you’re at all interested, watch this space!

I recently wrote about Bowie (in a post on core values) as he’s a personal hero of mine for his fearless creativity. I love what his music evokes for you!

Hey, Joy! I’ll have to seek out your Bowie article. Yes, he’s someone I come back to consistently in every decade of my life. He was a freaking genius. I’ve been known to have Hunky Dory playing on repeat when I’m on a deadline and I’ll always be hugely grateful to Lizzie for introducing me to him and breaking me out of my musical silo. Thank you, Emily. Are you an avid journaller in other forms? I’m fascinated by how many different approaches there are.

I do! I love journaling, I've started to use prompts more recently but I love the idea of using music or sounds as inspiration.

My parents subjected me to Mario Lanza, Ravel’s Bolero and Mantovani. I rebelled by listening to the Stones, the Who, ELP, Deep Purple and Lynryd Skynyrd, to name a few. I still listen to them now but I also enjoy a much wider range of music. It’s definitely nice to have memories triggered by certain songs.

I love this so much Miranda... songs are like scents aren’t they, they can trigger whole streams of recollections and usually they are filled with profound and often forgotten meaning.!

Now I want to dig out all my old music and see what floats with the notes into mind..! 🤍🎶🎵x
